Flat steel is the most appropriated solution to manufacture ventilation air duct systems. In addition to its lightness, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, steel offers a surface easy to clean which helps to ensure a good air quality.
Besides the classical hot dip galvanised made of zinc, ArcelorMittal has developped a zinc-magnesium coating, Magnelis®, which provides a superior corrosion resistance (up to 10 times better than classical solution according to lab tests). Life time of the ventiation system can be extended, especially in corrosive environments. Magnelis® must be specified with a coating mass of 310g/sqm to obtain the best performance. Steel grade, dimensions and zinc coating mass must be selected according to the construction regulations (European and country standards).
